It is unclear whether Ruud van Nistelrooy will still be in charge of Leicester City at the start of next season.
The Dutchman has overseen a horrid run at the King Power Stadium, Leicester breaking numerous unwanted Premier League records as they slide towards relegation.
Indeed, form has been so poor since December that following the defeat against Manchester City, Leicester fans called for van Nistelrooy to resign.
In recent days, Leicester have also been linked with Danny Rohl, the current Sheffield Wednesday manager.

If the club don’t opt for Rohl, however, five other potential options could stabilise the club and ensure they bounce back next season at the first time of asking.
Sean Dyche
Sean Dyche has been out of work since being sacked by Everton in January.
Such has been the dismal run of form under van Nistelrooy, Leicester fans called for Dyche to be appointed after his Goodison Park departure in a desperate attempt to save their season.
Ultimately, the Leicester owners decided not to act, keeping van Nistelrooy in post.

However, Dyche is likely to be available heading into the 2025/26 season.
Having guided Burnley to promotion twice during his time there and kept them in the Premier League for six seasons between 2016 and 2022, he could prove to be the steady hand that Leicester need.
Gary O’Neil
Another manager currently out of work, Gary O’Neil has proven himself to be a competent Premier League boss.
While he doesn’t have close to the same amount of experience as Dyche, O’Neil did a stellar job keeping Bournemouth in the top flight after replacing Scott Parker just four games into the 2022/23 season.

He was somewhat unlucky to have lost his job at the end of that campaign. Having replaced Julen Lopetegui at Wolves just two days before the start of the 2023/24 season, however, he again performed excellently to keep the club up.
Things went downhill at Molineux this term, but his record prior to that means he would be a solid appointment.
Liam Rosenior
Liam Rosenior is doing wonderful things at Strasbourg in France.
After being appointed by the Ligue 1 side ahead of the 2024/25 season, the 40-year-old has guided his team to 5th place, putting them right in the fight to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
| Position | Team | Games Played | Wins | Draws | Losses | Points |
| First | PSG | 27 | 22 | 5 | 0 | 71 |
| Second | Monaco | 27 | 15 | 5 | 7 | 50 |
| Third | Marseille | 27 | 15 | 4 | 8 | 49 |
| Fourth | Nice | 27 | 13 | 8 | 6 | 47 |
| Fifth | Lille | 27 | 13 | 8 | 6 | 47 |
| Sixth | Strasbourg | 27 | 13 | 7 | 7 | 46 |
Such has been the rise in his stock this season, Leicester are keeping tabs on Rosenior, viewing him as a potential replacement for van Nistelrooy.
However, whether Rosenior would want to leave a top European league after an excellent showing, especially if Strasbourg qualify for a European competition next season, is unclear.
Russell Martin
It is no secret that Russell Martin struggled with Southampton this season.
Martin left the South Coast in December 2024 with Southampton bottom of the Premier League table having picked up just five points from their first 13 games.

The 39-year-old drew criticism from fans and pundits alike due to his reluctance to change his progressive and open style of play.
Yet it was this same style of play that achieved promotion in the first place.
During his first season with the club, Martin guided Southampton to a fourth-place finish in the Championship before winning promotion via the play-offs.
| Position | Team | Matches Played | Wins | Draws | Losses | Points |
| First | Leicester City | 46 | 31 | 4 | 11 | 97 |
| Second | Ipswich Town | 46 | 28 | 12 | 6 | 96 |
| Third | Leeds | 46 | 27 | 9 | 10 | 90 |
| Fourth | Southampton | 46 | 26 | 9 | 11 | 87 |
That could offer hope to Leicester if they do end up being relegated this campaign.
Andy King
The romantic choice, Andy King is a Leicester City legend.
Having come through Leicester’s academy, King played with the Foxes in League 1, the Championship, and the Premier League.
He also played 25 times in Leicester’s 2015-16 title-winning campaign, scoring two goals.

After finishing his career at Bristol City, the former midfielder has turned to coaching.
Currently on Leicester’s coaching staff at the King Power Stadium, the move to first-team manager could be too big a jump too soon.
Yet after such a tricky season, King could be exactly what is required to unite and galvanise the Foxes fanbase, the 36-year-old likely to receive full support thanks to his exploits as a player.
