Leicester City must now sack Ruud van Nistelrooy for survival specialist – it can save their season

The pressure is being ramped up on Ruud van Nistelrooy after Leicester City were humiliated by Brentford on Friday night.

Leicester’s 4-0 loss to Brentford was inarguably their worst home display of the campaign, and it saw the Foxes create an unwanted record.

Under the guidance of Ruud van Nistelrooy, they become the first team in top-flight history to lose six home matches in a row without scoring in each of them.

It’s been a completely abysmal period for Leicester, who have now tasted defeat in 10 of their previous 11 matches in the league.

Leicester fans have called for Van Nistelrooy to be sacked as they realise he isn’t the man to keep them up, whereas one available manager has a proven track record of keeping teams in the division.

Leicester must replace Ruud van Nistelrooy with Sean Dyche

When Van Nistelrooy replaced Steve Cooper in November, fans were hopeful the Dutchman would bring the exciting, attacking football they desperately craved.

However, while Van Nistelrooy has done worse than Cooper statistically, he’s also not improved their goalscoring record, as proven by their failure to score in any of their last six home matches.

It’s become clear that hiring the 48-year-old has been one huge mistake and the Leicester owners should consider replacing him with Sean Dyche.

Despite being recently sacked by Everton after a poor run of results, Dyche is a survival specialist and he can get the best out of the players he has available.

First and foremost, the Englishman would improve the defensive record of a Leicester side who have conceded the most goals of any team in the league (59).

Last season, Everton had the fourth-best defence statistically despite finishing 15th, and this is the sort of miracle work Leicester need.

He’s also pulled off many relegation escapes with Burnley, who he managed for almost a decade before joining the Toffees. So, if anyone can save the Foxes, it’s him.

How Leicester feel about sacking Van Nistelrooy

Sources have exclusively told Leicester City News that Leicester haven’t contacted Dyche’s agent as they don’t plan on sacking Van Nistelrooy before the end of the season.

When the Dutchman was hired in November, Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha said Van Nistelrooy wouldn’t be sacked, purely because paying further expenses to relieve a manager of their duties would put them into further financial trouble.

But, when looking at the bigger picture, dropping into the Championship is worse for City financially and they need to act in the present.

Currently, Van Nistelrooy is leading Leicester to relegation, whereas hiring someone like Dyche – who has been there and done it – would at least give them a shot at surviving.
