Leicester City should cash in on loan star to fund move for striker who can be heir to Jamie Vardy

Leicester City are struggling for goals this season and could use the January transfer window to address the issue.

Odsonne Edouard looks set to have his Leicester loan cancelled after failing to impress and Patson Daka has only scored one goal this season.

That leaves Jamie Vardy as the only forward who is scoring goals and even then, he only has six to his name.

The next highest scorer in the side is Jordan Ayew with five in all competitions.

They’re numbers that aren’t good enough for a team looking to stay up in the Premier League and a new forward could be the answer.

Evan Ferguson has been linked with the Foxes but unless they cancel Facundo Buonanotte’s loan, which is extremely unlikely, they won’t be able to loan the Brighton & Hove Albion man.

What Ruud van Nistelrooy could do instead is look abroad for someone permanently and by selling one in-demand forward, they could use the money to facilitate a transfer for another.

Leicester City should sell Tom Cannon in January

Despite being out on loan at Stoke City, Tom Cannon is still attracting plenty of interest from Championship clubs.

Cannon left Leicester because of a lack of game time at the King Power Stadium and has found his feet out on loan.

The 22-year-old is the club’s top scorer with nine goals and some Foxes fans want Cannon recalled after his recent performances, which included a 90th minute winner against Sunderland.

Sheffield United are reportedly keen on signing the Republic of Ireland international.

His recent form could mean that the Foxes recoup a healthy fee which could be put towards a new forward.

Mathys Tel could be perfect heir to Leicester City throne

Leicester have continuously struggled to find someone who could be deemed as the true long-term replacement to Vardy.

The Foxes legend turns 38 this month but can’t do it all on his own and eventually, needs to be replaced.

Van Nistelrooy needs goals now and one player who could be ideal is Mathys Tel of Bayern Munich.

Tel was linked with Leicester earlier in the season and is in need of gametime after falling down the pecking order in Bavaria.

The young Frenchman, 19, could be a great option to bring in on loan for the second half of the season, especially as he can operate on the wing in the short term and should he impress and Leicester stay up, a permanent deal could be explored.

Capology states the Bayern star is earning in the region of £79,000-a-week which could prove to be a stumbling block and the sale of Cannon could well help raise the funds to cover his salary.
