Leicester City were beaten by Liverpool on Boxing Day as they fell into the bottom three of the Premier League.
Jordan Ayew’s inclusion was slammed by Leicester fans but he soon silenced his doubters by scoring a sixth-minute opener for the Foxes.
Liverpool then equalised on the verge of half time through a long-range effort before second half goals from Curtis Jones and Mohamed Salah condemned Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side to a third straight defeat.
They now sit one point behind 17th placed Wolves, who switched places with the Foxes after beating Manchester United.
There was plenty to take away from the performance in Merseyside so, with that, here are three things we learned from the Boxing Day beating.
Leicester City must sign a new full-back in January
It feels like we’re on a broken record here but Leicester must recruit in the defensive areas in January.
While Victor Kristiansen had his best game in a Leicester shirt, it was a different story for James Justin.

Once again, a goal was conceded on the right-hand side of the pitch as Justin failed to stop Cody Gakpo from cutting inside to level the game.
Justin and Kristiansen are both guaranteed to start with Luke Thomas out of the picture and Ricardo Pereira injured, new additions are vital to provide competition and make the side stronger.
Jakub Stolarczyk impresses on Premier League debut
It’s never easy coming into a struggling side but making your Premier League debut for one against the best side in the league is a whole new level of difficult.
Jakub Stolarczyk was selected after Ruud van Nistelrooy confirmed he dropped Danny Ward from the squad entirely after Ward was booed by Leicester fans at Wolves.
Stolarczyk may have conceded three goals but did make plenty of saves and gave a good showing.
| Jakub Stolarczyk stats | |
| Saves | 4 |
| Punches | 3 |
| High claims | 3 |
| Saves inside the box | 3 |
| Player rating | 7.2 |
Leicester City must improve attacking phases of play
The Liverpool game was always dubbed as a ‘free hit’ but fans still expect to see some chances.
Leicester had a total of four shots across the entire game and didn’t have a single effort on goal in the second half.
Patson Daka had a half chance but miss-kicked his effort and sliced it wide.
Goals win games and the Foxes must look more threatening in future games in order to get the results they need to stay up.
