‘Crazy’ – Leicester City fans are all saying the same thing about Kasey McAteer to Sunderland links

Leicester City fans are all in agreement about what the board should do now that Sunderland want Kasey McAteer.

Transfer deadline day truly hasn’t exploded into life for Leicester when supporters hoped it would, with Ruud van Nistelrooy expected to sign no one before the window slams shut.

The Foxes were linked with a sensational swap deal involving defender Conor Coady and Wolves star Craig Dawson however, Leicester rejected the chance to sell Coady.

Frustratingly, rumours linking Dawson with a move to the King Power Stadium have been their best chance of signing a player on deadline day, saying a lot about their current situation.

A lot could hinge on further players exiting the club before the deadline, though Leicester have rejected a £10m bid from Sunderland for Kasey McAteer, and that is a decision supporters aren’t happy with.

Leicester City fans wanted the club to sell Kasey McAteer to Sunderland for £10m

Leicester winger McAteer has been on the fringes of the action this term, only starting four times in the Premier League while assisting just once.

The 23-year-old perhaps doesn’t possess the quality to play at a high standard in the Premier League, which explains why Sunderland want to sign him.

That being said, Van Nistelrooy only wants to sell the Republic of Ireland star if he finds a replacement first, leaving supporters perplexed.

“If anyone think McAteer is worth £10m they are insane. And for us to reject that. Absolutely crazy valuation on an below average player from #lcfc,” one fan wrote

While another replied: “Totally agree. The only reason we’ve rejected this is because we’re admitting that we’re going down and we’ll need him next season coz he’s certainly not going to get much game time this season.”

“How is this not instantly accepted??? We can then go full steam ahead and buy the two £20m players we need… #lcfc,” a third replied.

“Rejected offers for Thomas & McAteer about £15m combined yet worried about PSR??,” a fifth questioned while a sixth pointed out: “If we’re worried about PSR and can’t sign anyone, selling Thomas for 5m and McAteer for 8-10m makes perfect sense.”

“He isnt that good in the championship. Should have kept Cannon and sold McAteer,” another commented.

Leicester need to get a move on

To not have more than one signing done by this point is completely laughable from Leicester, whose only arrival remains Woyo Coulibaly from Parma.

Van Nistelrooy wanted three more signings before the window shuts, including a centre-back, winger and striker, but neither are looking likely.

Keeping McAteer till they have a replacement is a wise decision but considering there are just hours left till the window shuts, they need to get a move on.

As it stands, failure to get at least some quality in will result in relegation, and Van Nistelrooy will want to avoid having that on his CV.
