Leicester City dealt transfer blow in hope of signing striker who’s like Zlatan Ibrahimovic

It seems like Leicester City could be planning for life in the Championship next season and that means planning accordingly in the transfer market.

For Ruud van Nistelrooy to keep Leicester City in the Premier League, it would take an almighty turnaround, even bigger than their great escape in 2014/15.

So, with relegation to the Championship looking nailed on – with six points separating them from 17th place Wolves – the Foxes can look ahead to the summer.

Leicester have been linked with wonderkid Alisson, the Brazilian winger who currently plays for Atletico Mineiro. However, the 19-year-old will reportedly join Shakhtar Donetsk in a deal worth £11.8 million instead.

Unfortunately, that isn’t the only blow Van Nistelrooy has been dealt, as another wonderkid striker is set to sign a contract at his current club.

Leicester target Francesco Pio Esposito set to sign new Inter Milan contract

In January, Manchester United and Leicester were linked with Francesco Pio Esposito. The 18-year-old striker plays for Inter Milan, although he is currently flourishing on loan for Spezia in Serie B.

Esposito is on fire in the Italian second division with 14 goals in 26 appearances and there’s no surprise such form has attracted interest from the Premier League.

Leicester were monitoring the players situation during the January transfer window alongside Man United, and that would have excited supporters.

But, their chances of signing him in the near future have been dealt a huge blow. According to Tutto Sport, as relayed by Sport Witness, Inter have decided to extend his contract.

The European giants reportedly see him as a ‘top player’ and see him playing a vital part in their first-team in the future.

Esposito, who has been compared to legendary striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, per talent scout Jacek Kulig, looks a fine young talent, but Leicester already have their very own.

Jake Evans is Leicester’s future number nine

Jake Evans is an incredible striker coming through the academy at Seagrave and the teenager is threatening to breaking into the first-team.

Evans has been tipped to replace Jamie Vardy, and his return of nine goals in just 12 Premier League 2 matches in 2024/25 suggests he has the clinical edge to fill his boots.

Van Nistelrooy hinted at handing Evans his debut in the not so distant future, and as his current senior stars are underperforming, supporters are clamouring for him to utilise the youth.

As it stands, the Leicester youngster looks like being a star of the future, and hopefully, he will make his first-team debut before the season draws to a close.
