Leicester City preparing to make ‘shock’ £10m bid for ace who wants Premier League move

Jordan Ayew became Leicester City’s seventh signing of the summer last week but Steve Cooper is determined for him not to be the last.

Steve Cooper got his first competitive win as Leicester City boss on Tuesday night as the Foxes beat Tranmere Rovers 4-0 in the Carabao Cup.

Cooper made seven changes from the XI that started in the 2-1 Premier League defeat at Fulham for the cup clash and would have been pleased as some of his fringe players took their chance.

That will not detract from the fact Leicester need more reinforcements ahead of Friday’s 11pm transfer deadline.

Cooper looks set to spring a surprise, though, as he targets a move for a position Foxes fans were unlikely to consider a priority this summer.

Steve Cooper eyes Luton Town’s Tomasz Kaminski as new Leicester City goalkeeper

Currently, Mads Hermansen is the Leicester number one goalkeeper, with Daniel Iversen and Danny Ward back-ups.

Whilst a new ‘keeper could be considered nice to have for Leicester, it had been expected funds would instead be prioritised towards attacking players.

It is a surprise, then, that Cooper appears to be targeting a move for Luton Town goalkeeper Tomasz Kaminski, with Leicester preparing a £10 million bid.

That is according to journalist Alan Nixon, who revealed via his Patreon: “Leicester City are making a shock late move for Luton’s shot stopper Tomasz Kaminski.

“Boss Steve Cooper is looking for a new keeper and hopes to pull off a deal worth over £10 million for Kaminski.”

Nixon goes on to claim that Kaminski is expected to be keen on the move, adding: “The Belgian excelled in the Premier League last season and would jump at the chance of a return to the top level.

“Luton may sell and are looking at Bournemouth’s Mark Travers as a potential replacement.”

Kaminski may well be an upgrade on Hermansen and had a really strong individual season last time out despite Luton’s relegation.

However, Leicester cannot afford to miss out on their attacking targets pursuing another ‘keeper.

One such target is said to be Fiorentina winger Jonathan Ikone, whilst striker Santiago Gimenez and attacking midfielder Bilal El Khannouss are both firmly on the Leicester’s radar and will not come cheap.

Hermansen excelled last season in Enzo Maresca’s possession-based style and should still be able to do a more than adequate job under Cooper in the Premier league this season.

With that in mind, perhaps Leicester are best served to put any goalkeeper transfer plans on hold until the frontline has been addressed.
