Ruud van Nistelrooy had a lot to say following his Leicester City side beating Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.

James Justin put the Foxes in front against the Championship opposition after eight minutes on January 11th.

Harry Winks came under fire from Leicester City fans during the game after his awful passing gifted Queens Park Rangers two goals on the day.

However, despite Winks’ best efforts, Leicester beat QPR 6-2 thanks to a Justin brace and goals from Jamie Vardy, Facundo Buonanotte, Wout Faes and Stephy Mavididi.

It was a big win for the Midlands outfit who were clearly in need of a boost after losing their previous five matches.

Though fans will be pleased to finally see their side win a game though, it’s Ruud van Nistelrooy’s post-match comments they will find most interesting.

We are now 11 days into the 2025 January transfer window and the Foxes are still yet to make a signing.

Reports emerging in the last 24 hours or so suggest that could be about to change, however.

It’s been claimed that Leicester are looking to sign Woyo Coulibaly from Serie A side Parma on a four-year contract.

Now, speaking to the media, as per Leicestershire Live, after watching his side score six in the third round of the FA Cup, Van Nistelrooy responded to a transfer question about the right-back.

He said when directly asked about Coulibaly: “We can tell [you] things when it’s 1000% sure on new players. At the moment, there’s no news.”

When pressed about Leicester wanting a new right-back, he added: “I’ve said before, I won’t go into details on positions.

“It’s important to keep those cards in front of you as a club and manager. When deals are done, the players can be presented, then it’s the time to talk about it.”

Supporters will likely be delighted if a move for the Serie A defender is indeed completed this month.

Leicester fans slammed Justin yet again on Saturday despite him scoring two goals in the victory.

He may have played well against QPR but his overall form this campaign has been very sub-par.

However, speaking post-match, Van Nistellrooy was quick to praise the underfire Leicester man.

He said: “I think JJ had some criticism and he handled it in the perfect way, not only by scoring two but having an excellent performance off the ball, on the ball as well.

“He deserves that. He’s very reliable in that sense of how he lives his profession, how he works and how he trains. I’m happy he could play like this today.”
