Leicester City have always been a busy club in the transfer window over the years.

With the current window open until 3 February, the Foxes will be doing their best to add to their squad for the final time and push on to secure Premier League survival.

Opta currently predicts Leicester to go down but that can all change if Ruud van Nistelrooy recruits the right sort of player.

January can be a notoriously hard window to sign quality players but thankfully, the Foxes have unearthed some gems in recent times.

Some have even gone on to lift Premier League titles, as well as play a big part in European campaigns.

So, with that, here are the top three signings Leicester have made in the January transfer window.

3 – Wilfred Ndidi

At number three on the list is midfield maestro Wilfred Ndidi.

Ndidi has become one of Leicester’s most important players in the years he has been the club and just about seen it all.

Joining the season after the Foxes won the Premier League was never going to be easy, but dubbed as the N’Golo Kante replacement, he has lived up to the mark.

The Nigerian has played in all three European competitions and won the FA Cup and Community Shield during his time in the East Midlands.

His ability to win the ball back from opponents, put in a crunching tackle and pop up with the odd goal here and there have seen him become one of the club’s current longest-serving players.

He’s been a fan favourite since his first day at the club and continues to play an important part to this day.

2 – Robert Huth

Robert Huth may well be one of the most important signings Leicester have made in the last 10-20 years.

Huth was signed on loan from Stoke City in a bid to stop the endless number of goals being conceded.

He linked up alongside Wes Morgan and together, they helped Nigel Pearson’s side win seven of their last nine games to pull off an almighty escape.

The German joined permanently that summer and then played a huge part in the unthinkable as Leicester defied the 5000/1 odds to win the Premier League.

A brace at Manchester City and a bullet header away at Tottenham Hotspur all helped Leicester who then relied on Huth in the Champions League campaign, as well as establish themselves as a top-flight team.

Not only was he a leader, Huth was also adored by fans in the East Midlands and is always welcome back.

1 – Riyad Mahrez

No prizes for guessing who takes top spot.

Aside from Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez may well be Leicester’s best pound-for-pound signings of all time.

Little was known about Mahrez when he came from the French second tier but his name was on everyone’s lips just a matter of weeks later.

He announced himself to the world with a beautiful goal against Blackpool in the Championship-winning season.

Two years later he was ripping apart defences in the Premier League win as he scored 17 goals and was even nominated for the Ballon d’Or.

Mahrez eventually left to join Man City for a then club-record sale of over £60m in 2018.

His dazzling footwork, ability to conjure something out of nothing and a velcro-like touch got fans off of their seats and it’s hard to imagine fans will see a player like him again.
