Leicester City have recalled Tom Cannon this week but his long-term future at the club remains up in the air.
After failing to establish a regular starting berth following a transfer from Everton in 2023, Tom Cannon was allowed to leave Leicester City on loan over the summer, joining Stoke City.
The striker had a prolific spell in the Championship, netting nine league goals for The Potters.
Now though, Leicester have decided to recall Cannon from his loan spell during the winter transfer window.
What’s next for the centre-forward is still currently up in the air, though Leicester fans want to see Cannon given a chance to prove himself under Ruud van Nistelrooy.
However, the 22-year-old is also garnering attention from other clubs in England after his return.

Leicester City accept bid for Tom Cannon
Reports earlier this week claimed that Championship high-flyers Sunderland are willing to pay £13m to sign Cannon.
It’s not a great deal for the Foxes though, as that money is dependent on the North East outfit getting promoted in 2024/25.
Now, however, despite Sunderland looking to have led the race for the Leicester man, a new favourite has emerged.
Responding to a question about Cannon’s future on social media, journalist Alan Nixon put Sheffield United as the favourites to sign him on Thursday evening.
He wrote: “Make them fav … but it’s not done … a fair bit to do …”
There’s since been another update from the journalist, who wrote on his Patreon on Friday afternoon that: “Sheffield United’s bid for striker Tom Cannon has been accepted by Leicester City.
“The Blades have gone to £13 million including bonuses and are expected to speak to the forward immediately.”

What Ruud van Nistelrooy has said about Tom Cannon Leicester future
Given Jamie Vardy’s recent poor showing and the dismal form of loanee Odsonee Edouard this term, it was probably best for the Foxes if the striker remained at their club.
The Midlands outfit are tight on money at the moment, however, so a sale does make sense if the fee is right.
Ruud van Nistelrooy commented on Cannon’s future this week and hinted he could be loaned out.
He said: “We’re looking at Tom Cannon’s situation very closely. What is best for him and for the club. There’s a possibility of loans being looked at, but other than that we want to keep the team together.”
That doesn’t look to be the case after Nixon’s report and it looks as though Cannon is now on his way out of the King Power.
