Leicester City fell to a fifth defeat in a row as they were beaten 2-1 away at Aston Villa on Saturday.
Ruud van Nistelrooy’s team selection angered Leicester fans as he chose to drop Facundo Buonanotte to the bench in favour of restoring Jordan Ayew to the starting XI after he missed the last game due to suspension.
Victor Kristiansen was also missing for the Foxes due to illness, meaning Luke Thomas started for the first time since November.
The away side had been showing positive signs all game but went 1-0 down as Jannik Vestergaard’s header away fell to Ross Barkley on the edge of the box, who then drilled the ball home past Jakub Stolarczyk.

Villa’s lead didn’t last for long though as Stephy Mavididi equalised after Jamie Vardy’s effort was parried away from Emiliano Martinez after a teasing ball in from Jordan Ayew.
Unfortunately for the Foxes, the joy wouldn’t last as a terrible defensive error from James Justin saw the full-back give the ball away and allow Ian Maatsen to cross the ball home for Leon Bailey, who tapped home.
So, with that, here’s how Leicester City News rated the Foxes’ individual performances against Aston Villa.

Leicester City player ratings

Jakub Stolarczyk -6
Wasn’t tested by the hosts too much and looked comfortable in-between the sticks. Was let down by his defenders for both goals and would have every right to be angry with them.
James Justin – 5
There have been calls for Justin to be dropped and it was looking like one of his better performances until Villa’s second.
Disastrous from the full-back and if Leicester don’t address this problem quickly, they will get relegated.

Conor Coady – 6
Another solid display from the leader at the back. Regular game time seems to helping him improve after a slow start to his Leicester career.
Jannik Vestergaard – 6
Had been really solid all game but his poor header away from a corner was responsible for the goal that put Villa ahead
Luke Thomas – 7

Eyebrows were raised when Luke Thomas’ name featured in the starting XI but hats off the Foxes academy graduate.
After his shambolic performance against Brentford, this was night and day in comparison and he was brilliant and didn’t put a foot wrong.
Harry Winks – 6
Better known for his technical ability and his his impressive passing range, we saw the side of Harry Winks that goes under the radar.
He worked tirelessly all game, winning the ball back and going shoulder to should
Boubakary Soumare – 6

Was okay in the middle of the park and worked hard alongside Winks but didn’t too much of note.
Jordan Ayew – 7
Ayew may be known as Leicester’s super-sub but he was brought in from the start and was brilliant in every department.
He worked hard, won fouls and produced a stunning ball into the box for the equaliser. He wasn’t given the warmest welcome when he signed in the summer but for £5m, Ayew has been one of Leicester’s better signings.
Bilal El Khannouss – 6
Didn’t have much impact from an attacking sense but played some brilliant balls across the pitch but not much else.
Stephy Mavididi – 6

Appeared to be lacking in confidence and had missed a really good opportunity in the first half but was on hand to fire home the rebound for the equaliser.
Jamie Vardy – 6
Played his part in the goal as his effort was well saved but didn’t really do much else. Need to see more from the Foxes’ top scorer.
