Predicted Leicester City XI to face Chelsea as Enzo Maresca makes Foxes return

Leicester City welcome Enzo Maresca back for the first time as they take on his Chelsea side this weekend.

Maresca left Leicester after a single season in charge, winning the Championship title before moving on to the Premier League giants.

With Leicester three points above the relegation zone and playing before all of their closest competitors, a win at the King Power Stadium would help to relieve the pressure on Steve Cooper, as well as take a huge step towards survival.

Facundo Buonanotte will be unavailable for the Foxes after picking up his fifth yellow card of the league campaign against Manchester United last time out.

Ricardo Pereira’s latest injury means he also absent after Cooper confirmed he would be out for at least four months with a long-term injury.

One of the biggest upsets is the news that Abdul Fatawu will be out for the rest of the season after the Leicester boss confirmed he had suffered an ACL injury.

Fatawu posted a worrying social media post of him wearing a brace before a further update of him post-operation and now the Foxes’ worst fears have been realised.

Jordan Ayew is a doubt after his injury wasn’t as bad as first feared but, in more positive news, Jamie Vardy, Patson Daka, and Bobby De Cordova-Reid are all back and in contention to feature.

Leicester predicted XI to face Chelsea

Given the likely absences of certain players, Cooper may have to look at trying something different to manage with what he’s got.

Should Fatawu or Ayew be unavailable, the Leicester boss may have to pull a few rabbits out of a hat to adapt to his starting XI.

Mads Hermansen is the nailed on starter in goal and is likely to be behind a back four consisting of James Justin, Wout Faes, Jannik Vestergaard, and Victor Kristiansen.

Boubakary Soumare was given a start against Man United and although he didn’t exactly set the world alight, no Buonanotte means that Wilfred Ndidi is set to push further forward into the number 10 position.

Alongside Soumare will be Harry Winks whilst out on the wings Stephy Mavididi will look to recapture some of his early season form.

Bilal El Khannouss needs to show Cooper more to prove he is worthy of starting in the long-term and the Morocco international will be given the opportunity to start, albeit from the right-hand side.

Finally, to complete the XI, captain Jamie Vardy will return to the side and lead from the front.
