Leicester City finally ended their barren run of form with a huge win against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Foxes beat Spurs 2-1 as goals from Jamie Vardy and Bilal El Khannouss completed a turnaround within the space of five second half minutes following Richarlison’s opening goal in the first 45.

Plenty of players starred, including Boubakary Soumare, who was singled out by Leicester boss Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Those three points saw the Foxes climb out of the bottom three and into 17th as Leicester became the first team in 133 years to beat Tottenham after losing their last seven Premier League games.

It’s the sort of result that can kickstart someone’s season and as the dust settles on a fantastic Sunday afternoon in the capital, here are three things Leicester City News learned from the win.

Unlikely lads play huge role in Leicester win

There were eyebrows raised when the lineup Van Nistelrooy named had a combined age of 102.

Bobby De-Cordova Reid, Jordan Ayew and Vardy were all named from the off, sparking concern as to how Leicester would form any form of attack.

It was quite the opposite as the Foxes looked dangerous every time going forward, with Ayew squandering a good opportunity in the first half.

De-Cordova Reid earned his start for his efforts in training, Van Nistelrooy revealed after the win and he rewarded the Dutchman’s faith by providing the assists for both goals. He may have scored an equaliser in the draw against Brighton & Hove Albion, but this was his best performance in a Leicester shirt.

There was also strong performances from the likes of Victor Kristiansen, Jannik Vestergaard and James Justin – all of whom have come under fire this season.

Jamie Vardy continues to troll Tottenham fans

Death, taxes, scoring goals against North London clubs. Vardy absolutely loves it and even though it’s nine years since he taunted Harry Kane after Leicester’s title win, the 38-year-old still likes to remind Spurs fans.

After scoring the equaliser in front of the travelling Foxes fans, Vardy trolled the Tottenham fans by pointing to the Premier League badge and mouthing “1-0” as a reminder of how many top flight titles he has won.

His strike was also his 10th goal scored against Spurs in his career which is only bettered by his record against Arsenal (11).

Foxes never quit

Question marks have been asked about Leicester’s resolve, particularly after reports of unsettlement behind the scenes emerged.

Hours before the game, it was also claimed that Van Nistelrooy could quit the Foxes due to a lack of support in the transfer market.

All of this was a recipe for another damaging defeat but the players and manager looked like a team united.

For not the first time this season, Leicester conceded first and that has usually been the start of a downward spiral.

Thankfully, this time was different and Van Nistelrooy’s tactical tweak with 10 minutes to go helped see the game out, but the spirit and unity of the team as a whole was pivotal to getting a win that could be what keeps them up.
