Leicester City defender Wout Faes was given a very poor verdict after his recent international display for Belgium.
Steve Cooper and Leicester City will have been hoping that the international break would prove to be a beneficial time for the side in terms of performing for their country, and making that translate into their play with the Foxes, but that simply hasn’t been the case.
Barring a positive display from Wilfried Ndidi for Nigeria, the performances have mainly been very poor for the Foxes players for their nation.
Jannik Vestergaard was at the centre-of-a poor showing for Denmark, whilst Wout Faes also put in a very poor showing previously against Italy. The latter was once again on the back-end of some media criticism, and looking at his performance, there is no surprise that he was picked out as someone well off-the-pace.

Leicester City defender Wout Faes at the centre of poor display for Belgium
Foxes man Faes has been a stalwart for Leicester City this season, and whilst he has delivered some top performances in blue, he hasn’t quite shown that for his national side.
That was certainly the case once again for him as his side lost out 1-0 to Israel, where he delivered an ‘absolutely catastrophic’ performance, per Belgian publication Walfoot, who gave him a 2/10 rating. They said that he displayed ‘arrogance’ in his role that makes ‘blunders match after match’, and this one was certainly no different.
Publication Voetbul also heaped the negative feedback on the Foxes man after suggesting his ‘positional play was not always sharp’, and also honing in on his grave mistake of his poor pass that found Yarden Shua to tap in for the hosts; a moment which caused ‘frustration’.

Wout Faes Belgian displays will not bode well for upcoming Leicester City games
There is no doubt that the upcoming clashes for the Foxes will prove to be pivotal, not only for the outlook on the rest of the 2024/25 Premier League campaign, but also the future of Cooper in Leicestershire.
Leicester City must step up in the next few difficult fixtures, but it will be made much more of a challenge for the Foxes if Faes continues with his shoddy showings that he has done for Belgium.
Faes must simply put this week behind him and not let the words of the media affect him, otherwise a Leicester side without Faes on top form will certainly struggle in the next upcoming games.
