How Graham Potter is really feeling about taking the Leicester job after Steve Cooper’s sacking

It’s been a chaotic few days for Leicester City.

Leicester have sacked Steve Cooper after falling to a 2-1 defeat to Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea on the weekend.

The Foxes could’ve been beaten more convincingly in truth as they hardly laid a glove on the visitors – who dominated the ball.

It marked a sixth defeat of the season for Leicester and it left them in 16th place, just a point above the relegation zone.

Leicester have long called for Cooper to be sacked, so his dismissal was met with great optimism by many ahead of the busy festive period.

Now, the process has begun in identifying his successor before this weekend’s clash away at high-flying Brentford.

Graham Potter remains unsure about joining Leicester

According to Alan Nixon, Graham Potter and David Moyes are the two frontrunners to replace Steve Cooper at King Power Stadium.

The journalist reveals that Potter had the opportunity to join Leicester in the summer but he opted to wait amid uncertainty around the potential points deduction.

Those concerns have now cleared after the club won their appeal against the Premier League – who were ready to dock points this season.

However, despite that, it’s understood that Potter remains ‘unsure’ about filling the vacancy as he could be targeted by a more attractive Premier League club in the next couple of weeks.

West Ham United, who have a supremely talented squad, are reportedly on the verge of dismissing Julen Lopetegui if he fails to impress in their next two games against Newcastle and Manchester United.

So it seems the former Chelsea boss may well wait it out once more.

David Moyes eager to return

Nixon also claimed that Moyes is on Leicester’s shortlist and he is really keen to return to work after leaving West Ham in the summer.

City chiefs are set to make contact with the Scotsman in the next 24 hours but they could face competition from relegation rivals Everton.

The Toffees are growing frustrated with Sean Dyche and their prospective new owners – the Friedkin Group – are showing an interest in Moyes.

City will also have to convince candidates that they have money to spend in the Janaury transfer window.
