Leicester City have begun their search for a new manager following the departure of Steve Cooper.

Cooper was officially sacked by Leicester on Sunday and leaves the Foxes one point clear of the relegation zone in 16th.

The 44-year-old wasn’t overly popular with the club’s fanbase and pressure is now on the owners to make the right appointment.

Several names have been linked with the Leicester job including Ruud van Nistelrooy and David Moyes, however, it seems that Graham Potter is the frontrunner.

Potter has been close to the Leicester job twice and reports have claimed he is high on the list of replacements.

Graham Potter the favourite for the Leicester City job

Once again it seems that Potter will be linked with the vacant role at the King Power Stadium.

The former Chelsea boss was very close to becoming the Foxes boss in the summer following the departure of Enzo Maresca only for the Englishman to turn down a return.

Having been linked with higher profile jobs in the past, the 49-year-old may still need convincing to come to the East Midlands but with it being over two years since his last job, the temptation of a return to management could appeal.

How Leicester City could line up under Graham Potter

Should Potter be the man that Leicester choose, fans will see a much closer parallel of what they witnessed under Maresca.

The former Chelsea man likes to line up in a 3-4-3 formation, utilising full-backs as make shift wing-backs. This could benefit the likes of Victor Kristiansen, James Justin and Ricardo Pereira.

Stephy Mavididi will also play in a more advanced forward position, closer to Jamie Vardy and the right wing, likely to be occupied by Facundo Buonanotte in Abdul Fatawu’s absence will form an exciting trio.

With January just around the corner, the Foxes will no doubt look to recruit to find players that can adapt to Potter’s style of play and improve Leicester.

Of course, it goes without saying that new signings and players out injured could change the way Potter wants to line up when he has every option available but if he were to take charge against Brentford on Saturday, this would be the most likely.
