One Leicester City managerial option appears to be near the top of the shortlist.

After Leicester City made the bold decision to part ways with Steve Cooper, who left the side 16th in the Premier League, and the writing was one the wall after some baffling decisions, from the decision to exile Jannik Vestergaard, to the unconvincing tactics that the players were clearly not too fond of.

Since his dismissal, several names are already popping up as possible replacements.

Recently, Leicester legend Gary Lineker suggested that he would go with the option of Lee Carsley, whilst the name Ruud Van Nistelrooy has also been touted as a potential direction for the Foxes to go into.

However, it appears at this early stage that Graham Potter is one of the top options to take over at the club, and Leicester City’s stance on the former Brighton and Chelsea man has now been revealed.

Leicester City shortlist Graham Potter as suitable Steve Cooper replacement

The Foxes will be eagerly hoping to recruit their new manager soon, and there is every chance that they could easily turn towards out-of-work manager Potter, who hasn’t taken on a role since his sacking from Chelsea.

The Englishman thrived during his time at Brighton, and many see him as the ideal successor to Cooper.

Now, it has been revealed, via Alex Crook at TalkSPORT, that Potter is ‘high on Leicester’s shortlist of managerial candidates’ at this moment in time.

In his career, Potter has tallied a total of 141 matches managed in the Premier League, coming out with an average of 1.23 points per game.

Brighton and Leicester similarities will bode well for Graham Potter if appointed

When Potter took over at Brighton following his spell at Swansea City in the Championship, where he was described by Swans player Matt Grimes as having a ‘perfect mentality’, per The Guardian, the Seagulls were also a bottom-half Premier League side still awaiting a manager that will propel them towards the higher echelons of the table.

He showed real ability to be able to turn Brighton into a European-contending side, where his side thrived using a 4-2-3-1 formation, one which would work very well at Leicester.

Looking at the options available to Leicester, and whether any of them will stand a chance in keeping the side in the Premier League, Potter is undoubtedly one of the top shouts to pull off such a fate, and his experience with Brighton should speak volumes in regards to his abilities of making something special out of a lower-end side in the league.
