How Jamie Vardy really feels Leicester are performing under Ruud Van Nistelrooy following damning defeat

Leicester City’s relegation worries worsened on Wednesday after suffering their latest loss.

Leicester’s 2-0 defeat against Crystal Palace saw them lose a Premier League game for the sixth time in a row, leaving Ruud van Nistelrooy’s men second from bottom.

Van Nistelrooy said Leicester weren’t good enough on Wednesday, and he was bang on with that assessment, as the Foxes were toothless in attack and porous in defence.

The relegation strugglers have scored just twice in their last six league games while conceding a whopping 16 goals, telling of their problems at both ends of the pitch.

It says a lot when even Jamie Vardy struggled against Palace, as the Englishman was uncharacteristically wasteful in front of goal, blowing some good chances to score.

Some Leicester fans have already accepted relegation after their most recent defeat, and it’s hard to see how they survive if they continue to perform in this manner.

While the results suggest the Foxes haven’t done enough to indicate the tide is turning and more points are on the horizon, Vardy feels the performances are improving despite failing to record a single point in six games.

“We’ve not been with the gaffer that long and we’re getting better and better with how he wants us to play. We need to do it for the full 90 and everything clicks,” Vardy said via BBC Sport.

“There’s always confidence but we’ve not been able to get those results. Football is a results business. We’ve not got the result we wanted tonight but it’s a quick turnaround.”

Vardy’s response to the defeat suggests the Leicester players are still adapting to how van Nistelrooy wants them to play, and it must click soon before it’s too late.

Leicester need to sign a striker to rival Jamie Vardy

After Leicester signed Woyo Coulibaly, the manager is now perhaps switching his focus to acquiring a new centre-back given how much his current stars have struggled.

However, the Dutchman must also sign a striker to rival Vardy for the remainder of the campaign, as it’s become clear they can’t just solely rely on him.

The Englishman squandered two big chances against Palace and in an ideal world, he would be taken out of the limelight.

Unfortunately, van Nistelrooy doesn’t have anyone in reserve, with Leicester hoping to cancel Odsonne Edouard’s loan and Tom Cannon only just returning from Stoke City.

Leicester need to sign someone to become the long-term heir to Vardy’s throne and take the pressure off the 38-year-old to constantly deliver.
