Leicester fans are all saying the same thing about Ruud van Nistelrooy after news breaks

Leicester sacked manager Steve Cooper on the weekend after suffering a pretty humiliating defeat to Chelsea.

The 2-1 scoreline flattered Leicester in truth as they were completely dominated by Enzo Maresca’s visitors.

The pitiful performance saw Cooper sacked by Khun Top the next day, which reportedly took him by surprise.

Now, the process has begun in identifying his successor and a number of potential candidates have been floated around the media.

Graham Potter has already turned down the Leicester job whilst David Moyes isn’t thought to be under consideration.

Fans have quickly turned their attention elsewhere and are reacting to the potential appointment of Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Leicester fans don’t want Ruud van Nistelrooy to replace Steve Cooper

Ruud van Nistelrooy has been heavily linked with the vacant Leicester job over the last 72 hours and now Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has revealed there has been a concrete enquiry.

Leicester fans have taken to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share their thoughts on the possible appointment – and they’re all in agreement.

@Wilson_1605 said: “I’d love to be wrong but RVN doesn’t fill me with much confidence. His stock rose dramatically high considering that he was unbeaten in 4 games at United – however, two were against us and we were awful. Don’t think he’s the one for me.”

“RVN looking most likely according to reports. Hate to be a wet blanket but that is really quite underwhelming news, if anyone is more positive on it then I would love to hear it,” @thorpie54 posted.

@Dan_1884 added: “RVN if it happened would be a criminally bad appointment. Giving a totally inexperienced manager this squad to try and get playing will end in tears. It HAS to be Moyes. Everyone can see it.”

“I’m not fully convinced RVN is the right man. Has to be all in on Potter or Corberan,” @jarvis_charlie said.

@Wilson_1605 posted: “Quite surprised the club don’t want Potter – Top’s main target for years. I don’t want RVN at all, don’t think it’s hard to look good managing a group of players playing against us under Cooper twice. The fact no one is lined up is baffling.”

“Don’t get the RVN hype, now ain’t the time for someone who could potentially play the “Enzo way” we don’t have the squad for that. We need Moyes, make us hard to beat and steady us for a few seasons,” @BenWasley1 said.

Leicester must make Michael Carrick number one target

Leicester need a manager who’s going to lead a long-term project and that man is Middlesbrough boss Michael Carrick.

Leicester fans are desperate for the club to appoint Carrick as his free-flowing brand of football would really suit the profile of players at King Power Stadium.

His Boro side are the leading scorers in the Championship and his history with young players would lend itself well to the likes of Bilal El Khannouss and Facundo Buonannotte.

Carrick is the obvious appointment but perhaps he’ll be difficult to get out of the Riverside as they mount a promotion challenge.
