Cooper had won two of his 12 Premier League games in charge and was reportedly stunned when told he would be losing his job after being given the task of survival, which the club were on course to do so given that they’re currently 16th.

Any side who gains momentum is well on their way to pulling themselves out of the relegation battle and according to Premier League expert Graeme Bailey, there is a fear from rival clubs that if the Foxes are to make the right appointment, then they could easily pull away from the pack.

Bailey exclusively told Leicester City News: “I have been told that the other Premier League clubs are really worried that if Leicester get this appointment right then they will pull away and stay up.

“They are better than what they’ve been showing and they have plenty of quality in the side. If they can get a manager who gets them to click and results improve then they will stay up and make it harder for all of the other teams around them.”

Who has been linked with the Leicester City job?

So far, there are four names in contention for the job. Graham Potter and Ruud van Nistelrooy are the two leading candidates.

Potter has revealed he would be keen to return to management and the former Chelsea boss has come close to becoming the Leicester boss on two separate ocassions.

Van Nistelrooy has also reportedly been contacted and has been linked with several jobs across Europe.
