Leicester City owner could ruthlessly sack Jon Rudkin and replace him with director currently working for free

Leicester City need to make a lot of changes to return to the glory days, including sacking Jon Rudkin.

The Foxes lost to Brentford in harrowing fashion this past weekend, all but confirming their relegation to the Championship.

There is now a five-point gap between Leicester City and safety plus a very tough run of fixtures on the horizon.

While pressure is mounting on Ruud van Nistelrooy on the pitch, the Dutchman is not the main cause of Leicester’s decline.

That accolade instead belongs to Jon Rudkin, who has run the club into the ground and advised ‘Top’ poorly for many years.

Leicester fans want Rudkin out and that is likely what will be needed if the Midlands outfit are to ever improve and become an established Premier League club again.

Leicester City could replace Jon Rudkin with Dan Ashworth

Supporters protested versus Arsenal this month, with many opting to direct their anger at Rudkin and it’s easy to see why.

Leicester have PSR problems, recruitment has largely been woeful for some time and the man most responsible for this is the 57-year-old.

But there’s an obvious solution to this problem, which would involve relieving Rudkin of his duties and appointing Dan Ashworth.

Ashworth had a brief spell with Manchester United in 2024 but was sacked by INEOS in December.

BBC Sport confirmed this week that the ex-Newcastle United chief is working with Warwickshire County Cricket Club.

However, this is only in a voluntary role that Ashworth has been in since 2021 and is not paid.

In turn, he is still seemingly available to return to football in a full-time role and Leicester’s owner needs to do everything in his power to land the former Man Utd man.

Leicester City chief Jon Rudkin slammed

It’ll be a joyous day for fans when Rudkin does eventually leave the club either by sacking or of his own accord.

His tenure at the club has been so bad, especially recently, that it’s even begun to draw ire from others outside of the Leicester fanbase.

After the hammering against Brentford, Richard Keys slammed Rudkin on social media, urging for his dismissal.

He wrote: “Leicester were pathetic tonight. How many more bad appointments can Jon Rudkin be allowed to make? When Van Nistelrooy goes he’s got to as well this time.”
