Leicester City head to Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon and the Foxes are anticipating more misery.

Supporters are excited for this season to become a distant memory as Leicester have lost their last eight games without scoring a single goal.

Not even a big home clash against Newcastle United on Monday night could fire them up as Matt Piper blasted the Leicester players for not trying during the 3-0 loss.

It was a disgraceful performance from start to finish, with Ruud van Nistelrooy’s men struggling to compete against Champions League-chasing opponents.

But while Leicester set more unwanted records at the King Power Stadium, there was one positive to emerge from the match.

Ruud van Nistelrooy can shock fans by starting Jeremy Monga vs Brighton

Putting the 3-0 loss aside, it was a night to remember for 15-year-old Jeremy Monga, who made his debut in the final minutes of the game.

The electric winger has been impressing in the academy this term, with Manchester City reportedly agreeing personal terms with Monga, although Leicester are confident of keeping him.

With nothing to play for and Van Nistelrooy’s future in doubt, now could be the time to unleash the teenage superstar from the off.

Monga impressed in Leicester training this week, embarrassing players double his age, including defender Jannik Vestergaard.

And instead of playing wingers such as Bobby De Cordova Reid, Stephy Mavididi and Jordan Ayew, Van Nistelrooy is better off starting someone who could be the future of the football club.

In the 16 minutes he was on the pitch against Newcastle, Monga made 10 touches, completed four of his six passes and attempted one dribble.

He came onto the field and was fearless, something that can’t be said about his fellow teammates, and a reason why supporters would love to see him start this weekend.

What Van Nistelrooy has said about Monga

Naturally, managers should ease someone who is so young into the action, instead of throwing them into the deep end.

However, with Leicester 15 points from safety and heading into the Championship, Van Nistelrooy has nothing to lose and afford to take risks.

In his pre-match press conference on Thursday, the Dutchman confirmed that he will be using Monga in the final seven matches.

“But within reason, we have to make the most of it and use him as much as we can,” Van Nistelrooy said. “He has the physical capability also and the mental capability to handle this.”

So, with his manager believing he’s ready, both physically and mentally, such words point towards him featuring once more this weekend.
