Leicester City fans witnessed another embarrassing performance from their senior stars in Monday night’s defeat to Newcastle United but it was a day to remember for Jeremy Monga.
Leicester lost 3-0 to Newcastle, extending their losing streak to eight matches while setting more unwanted Premier League records.
But it wasn’t all doom and gloom as 15-year-old Jeremy Monga made his debut, coming off the bench for the final 16 minutes at the King Power Stadium.
Monga became the second-youngest Premier League debutant, behind only Ethan Nwaneri, and the lightning quick winger certainly caught the eye during his cameo.
Ricardo Pereira sent Monga a classy message after the game, congratulating him for a wonderful achievement, and the Portuguese full-back wasn’t the only one.

Trent Alexander-Arnold reacts to Jeremy Monga’s Instagram post
Since emerging through the Leicester academy, the teenager has impressed with his levels of maturity, dazzling against players far older than him in the under-21s.
The wingers rapid rate of development, both for his club and country, have resulted in clubs such as Manchester City approaching a transfer for Monga.
It’s clear the Englishman has the potential to achieve greatness in his career and after making his debut, Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold responded to his Instagram post.
Monga posted multiple images of him on the pitch with the caption ‘Grateful’ while Alexander-Arnold responded with ‘Let’s go’.
The Liverpool superstar wasn’t the only one to leave a comment as Leicester teammate Kasey McAteer wrote ‘Well-deserved brother’ while Will Alves said ‘Congrats bro’.
There were several more responses to flood in for the teenage sensation, on what was a special night for him and his family.
Leicester must play Monga regularly
Just like what happened with Trey Nyoni, who joined Liverpool in 2023, Leicester risk losing another one of their generational talents.
Monga can’t sign a professional contract till 2026 when he turns 17, and by then, he could have already been snapped up by a big club.
Man City are leading the race to sign the young winger it appears and the Foxes could be powerless to prevent him moving on.

However, with a Championship campaign looming and a mass exodus of players expected, Monga could easily become an important first-team player next season, or at least play regularly from the bench.
Ultimately, the only way Leicester can keep their wonderkid is by promising him game time. They’ve already handed him his Premier League debut, and with nothing to lose between now and May, surely he can expect several more appearances.
