Leicester City’s Premier League journey looks like it could be coming to an end in a matter of weeks.
With nine games of the season remaining, Ruud van Nistelrooy’s men are nine points adrift of 17th placed Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Question marks about the Dutchman’s future are already being speculated given that Van Nistelrooy has history of walking out.
Now, his comments reflecting on his decision to leave PSV Eindhoven in summer 2023 suggest that history may repeat itself once again.

Ruud van Nistelrooy hit out at lack of support as PSV boss
In his one and only season in charge of PSV, Van Nistelrooy was successful, winning both domestic cups and falling just short of the Eredivisie title.
That wasn’t enough though as the 48-year-old walked out with one game of the 2022/23 campaign remaining.
Speaking to De Volkskrant in 2023, the Dutchman question his lack of support from the hierarchy.
“When the limit is reached, it stops for me,” he said. “I felt too little support. Everyone agreed with me. In the end, I couldn’t continue like this.
“You know what conditions need to be in place to perform well. If those conditions disappear, it’s over. It’s a bit tragic, but that trust is a core value. And then I’m able to make my choice.”
Who would replace Ruud van Nistelrooy as Leicester manager if he left?
The million dollar question on everyone’s lips: if Van Nistelrooy is sacked or resigns, who will replace him?
Journalist Graeme Bailey believes several will be interested in the Leicester job should they require a fourth permanent manager in two years.
He stated: “If Ruud should leave, they won’t struggle for high end candidates. If and when they are relegated, it will be one of the most in-demand jobs in the league.”
