Leicester City could look to Ruud van Nistelrooy as their new manager.

The Foxes have reportedly approached Van Nistelrooy about the vacant job after Leicester made the decision to sack Steve Cooper.

Van Nistelrooy is still relatively new to the managerial career having only taken charge of PSV on a permanent basis for one season before four games as caretaker manager at Manchester United after they dismissed Erik ten Hag.

If he were to be appointed, the 48-year-old would want to stamp his own mark on the squad and recruit in January to find players that suit him.

Sometimes there’s no place better than the place you know best and Man United could be a perfect place for the Foxes to recruit.

So, with that, here’s three players that Van Nistelrooy could try and sign from United.

Harry Amass (loan)

It was reported earlier this month that Leicester are looking at a left-back as part of their January recruitment plans.

Victor Kristiansen is the regular starter but his understudy, Luke Thomas, is seemingly out of favour at the King Power Stadium.

Harry Amass is one of United’s next big talents to come out of the academy and is destined for a bright future.

The 17-year-old probably isn’t ready to start for United just yet but for a player of his talents, a loan move to the East Midlands would strengthen Leicester in an area they need depth in and provide him with experience at a top-flight club.

Victor Lindelof

Defence is a big problem for the Foxes this season. Wout Faes is out of form and has been partnering Caleb Okoli after Cooper banished Jannik Vestergaard from training.

Ben Nelson could’ve been recalled had it not been for a long-term injury and with Conor Coady seemingly not getting a look in, signing a centre-back isn’t completely out of the question.

Victor Lindelof can’t buy a game at Man United and with more defenders likely to come in under Amorim, there is a chance he may be allowed to leave. At Leicester he would be considered a regular starter and the heavy Scandinavian presence at the club may entice him to make the move.

Lindelof has enough top-flight experience to know exactly what is expected of him too and he could prove to be a valuable addition.

Joshua Zirkzee (loan)

Leicester have scored in every game bar one this season but have still looked passive when attacking and could do with some more reinforcements.

Joshua Zirkzee has been a regular in the Man United squad this season but failed to live up to the same promise he showed whilst at Bologna last season.

After drawing against Ipswich in his first game in charge, Amorim criticised Zirkzee for his peformance in the number 10 role, sparking question marks about his future.

He told Sky Sports: “Josh [Zirkzee] has to understand that he has to go to the box to have the crosses.

“So we are doing some things that were not at the right moment, so that is something we have to address.”

It’s the most unlikely of the options suggested but if United see it as a move that benefits all parties, it’s one that will be at least considered.
