Leicester City could add a second defender to Ruud van Nistelrooy’s ranks during the January transfer window.
The Foxes earned a much-needed win over Queens Park Rangers in the FA Cup this past weekend but their woes in the Premier League are still a major concern.
Leicester face Crystal Palace and Wednesday evening and really need three points if they are to start mounting any sort of survival push, currently sitting 19th in the top flight.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 18 | 20 | 3 | 7 | 10 | 20 | 35 | -15 | 16 | |
| 19 | 20 | 3 | 5 | 12 | 23 | 44 | -21 | 14 | |
| 20 | 20 | 1 | 3 | 16 | 12 | 44 | -32 | 6 |
Their biggest issue this term has been the number of goals conceded – only Wolverhampton Wanderers have shipped more.
However, Van Nistelrooy and co. are expected to address their defensive frailties very soon, with Woyo Coulibaly set to join Leicester from Parma.
Now though, the Foxes have been given a boost in pursuit of another target they have looked at in the last month.

Leicester City handed Valentin Gomez transfer boost
The Foxes have been linked with a lot of centre-backs since Van Nistelrooy arrived at the King Power Stadium.
Reports in late December claimed Leicester were one the clubs targeting Valentin Gomez and they were thought to be preparing an £8m move.
Gomez spoke on his future amid Foxes links and admitted he wanted to play in Europe.
He said: “First I’m going to go on vacation, I think I deserve it. I played a lot of games during the year.
“Then I’ll see what decision I make for my future. The reality is that I’d like to continue growing in European football and see if that’s a possibility, if any club is willing to come and get me.”
However, it then looked as though the Argentine was set to stay in South America, joining Brazilian outfit Cruzeiro.
Now though, Pasion Fortinera report that after a deal with Cruzeiro collapsed, Gomez is ‘in the plans’ of Leicester along with Bologna and two Brazilian teams.
What Ruud van Nistelrooy has said about Leicester City transfers
With the Midlands outfit in such poor league form, fans will no doubt want to see players signed as soon as possible.
A deal for Coulibably appears close and when holding his pre-Crystal Palace press conference on Monday, Van Nistelrooy spoke on Leicester’s transfer plans.
When doing so, the Dutchman hinted that the club could make a signing this week.
He said: “It [a transfer this week] could happen but we have to wait and see how things are happening.
“It’s why the focus is on performing and winning. After that, it’s about signing players.”
