Leicester City are among the clubs interested in signing a Liverpool player Jurgen Klopp once labelled ‘special’.

With the backing of owner Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, Leicester City have been strengthening their squad in the 2024 summer window as they gear up for their first campaign back in the Premier League.

Steve Cooper has so far signed four first-team players to permanent deal this summer; Issahaku Fatawu, Caleb Okoli, Michael Golding, and Bobby De Cordova-Reid.

But further incomings are expected at the King Power ahead of the Foxes’ Premier League opener versus Tottenham Hotspur.

Leicester are set to make a ‘big-money offer’ for Celtic star Reo Hatate, who could be a replacement for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Leicester have opened talks with Arsenal for Reiss Nelson ahead of a potential loan move with an obligation to buy.

Cooper is also thought to be plotting a shock move for Crystal Palace forward Jordan Ayew.

Leicester City interested in Liverpool attacker Ben Doak

Ayew is seemingly not the only forward Leicester are looking at in the current window.

This comes following a report from The Athletic which claims Leicester and Southampton are among the suitors for Liverpool starlet, Ben Doak.

The 18-year-old attacker is said to be desperate to play regularly after injury kept him sidelined for the majority of the previous campaign.

Liverpool have been fielding loan interest in the teenager, suggesting a permanent transfer is unlikely.

Doak has made 10 first-team appearances for the Reds and has previously been dubbed a ‘special boy’ by Jurgen Klopp, as per the Daily Mail.

Can Ben Doak improve Leicester City attacking threat

Leicester go into the 2024/25 season somewhat short of an attacking threat.

Kelechi Iheanacho has left the club on a free transfer, while Patson Daka scored just seven goals in the previous season.

Jamie Vardy was the club’s top scorer in 2023/24 but he is now 37 years of age and unlikely to repeat that success in the Premier League.

The Foxes have also sold Dewsbury-Hall, who scored 12 and assisted 15 last term for the Midlands outfit, to Chelsea.

In turn, signing Doak with the expectation he will drastically improve Leicester’s attack is a risk.

The teenager has just 12 senior appearances to his name for Liverpool and Celtic and is yet to provide a goal contribution at first-team level.
