Catch all the bits you missed from Leicester City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy’s press conference.

Leicester face another tough test as they face Brighton & Hove Albion this weekend.

Defeat to Newcastle United saw the Foxes break a 141-year record after losing eight home Premier League games in a row without scoring.

There’s only seven games of the season to go and 15 points to make up just to go level with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

It’s a tall ask but ahead of the latest challenge, here’s everything the Leicester manager has to say ahead of the game.

Ruud van Nistelrooy refuses to walk away

Van Nistelrooy’s future appears to be in doubt after he refused to commit to his future moments after the Newcastle loss.

Liam Rosenior is admired by the Foxes too but when asked by the media what the future holds for him, he confirmed he would be staying.

He said: “I don’t want to walk away from anything, and that’s happening now.

“I do my job. I’m committed to working with the players, the club, to fight through this. To show we want to and we can break this cycle. I’m doing my job as long as I’m needed.”

On confidence levels in the squad

Anyone watching Leicester now can see that this side is broken and devoid of confidence across the board.

From breaking unwanted records to looking like they couldn’t hit a barn door with a banjo, it feels like nothing is going right.

The only ray of positivity was Jeremy Monga’s historic debut but even then, his appearance was too late as the Foxes were dead and buried.

When asked about the morale in the squad, the Leicester boss admitted that his players have looked nervous.

“It’s important to play free,” said the 48-year-old. “The players worry too much, which is normal. But they’re free enough to show their qualities.

“That’s where the character comes in to put that aside and force yourself to be at your best and keep the confidence and mental toughness going.”

Jeremy Monga’s historic debut was a small highlight for the Foxes and he appeared to impress, with Trent Alexander-Arnold reacting to Monga’s inclusion.

On Harry Winks fallout

One player who has been missing from the squad in the last two games is Harry Winks.

A first-team mainstay last season, Winks has found game time hard to come by and a reported fallout between him and Van Nistelrooy has coincided with his absence from the squad over the last two games.

However, the Dutchman insists that the focus should be on the squad, and not the individuals.

He said: “The club is in a period now that it shouldn’t be about individuals, it should be about the club and showing character, mentality and personality to get out of this situation. That’s the focus. These conversations take place behind closed doors.”
