It has been a whirlwind season for Leicester City, which included firing Steve Cooper and replacing him with Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Ruud van Nistelrooy replaced Steve Cooper as Leicester City manager in late November 2024 following a run of just two wins in 12 Premier League games.

After Cooper was sacked, a whole host of names were linked with the vacant position at the King Power Stadium.

Graham Potter hinted he was contacted by Leicester about the role, but is now in charge of West Ham United.

Carlos Corberan was tipped to replace Cooper as well but he’s since left West Bromwich Albion to join La Liga side Valencia.

Meanwhile, Leicester legend Gary Lineker has previously revealed who his choice of manager was.

Blackburn Rovers fans react as Lee Carsley mooted

Speaking late last year, Lineker suggested Lee Carsley as a Cooper replacement, stating: “I’d go with Lee Carsley.”

Van Nistelrooy, of course, got the job but Carsley has now been discussed for the vacant spot in the Blackburn Rovers dugout.

And upon the rumours of the England U21 coach taking up a role at Ewood Park, Blackburn fans have had mixed reactions.

One fan wrote: “Fingers crossed it’s not Lee Carsley but something is telling me that’s the target.”

A second stated: “Lee Carsley if he would come,” while a third wrote: “Rob Edwards, Gary O’Neil, Steve Cooper, Damien Duff or Lee Carsley. Someone who has a bit of emotion about them is right for us at the moment. Could take us up on a wave of positivity.”

“Carsley is the best out of them,” a fourth fan added.

Another supporter stated: “Carsley for me but he’d probably not touch it with a bargepole. Even if he came he’d not last two seasons without real backing.”

While another Blackburn supporter who clearly isn’t a fan of him commented: “Any but Carsley.”

Former Leicester City manager Steve Cooper linked with Blackburn job

Cooper didn’t exactly have a great spell with the Foxes but their recent form under Van Nistelrooy suggests he wasn’t the main problem.

The former Nottingham Forest man has previously impressed in patches in the Premier League and surely still has a future in the game.

Fans reacted to Cooper’s links earlier this week and for the most part, they were positive about him joining.

He’s been out of work since November and previous reports have claimed the former Leicester manager was willing to hold out for the right role.
