Leicester transfer news and rumours as medical booked whilst centre-back target joins Man City

Leicester City have made just one signing this month.

Woyo Coulibaly is Leicester’s only transfer so far and evidently, after seven losses on the bounce in the Premier League, that’s not enough.

Ruud van Nistelrooy needs more help in the market as he looks to guide his side out of the relegation zone.

It’s understood the club have looked at a number of targets across the Premier League and abroad, but for whatever reason, they’ve not been able to strike deals.

That needs to change and fast, with just 12 days of the window remaining before it slams shut until the summer.

With that said, here is the latest transfer news and rumours coming out of the King Power Stadium.

Leicester miss out on Juma Bah

Leicester were keeping tabs on Real Valladolid centre-back Juma Bah last month as they looked to bolster Van Nistelrooy’s ranks.

The teenager has established himself as one of La Liga’s most promising defenders and a number of Premier League clubs have been alerted.

That said, it seems Manchester City have won the race to sign Bah and they’re planning to send him straight back on loan to RC Lens.

So City will have to look elsewhere.

Tom Cannon underwent Sheffield United medical

Leicester agreed a £10m deal to sell Tom Cannon to Sheffield United earlier this week after recalling him from his Stoke City loan.

The Foxes have been in talks with a number of Championship suitors but it’s the Blades who have stolen a march.

Cannon had a medical booked with Sheffield United on Tuesday, so his sale is expected to be announced by Leicester today.

Leicester can only sign players on loan

Worryingly, Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas has revealed that Leicester can only sign players on loan this window.

It remains to be seen if that stance will change now that Cannon’s sale is all but confirmed. Surely the £10m from Sheffield United will be reinvested straight into the squad as they look to retain their Premier League status.

Thomas also noted that a winger is the most likely position City will strengthen in, which has sparked some concern among the fanbase, who are crying out for a centre-back.
