Centre-back signs, Odsonne Edouard leaves and loanee arrives in dream end to Leicester City transfer window

There are now less than three days remaining in the winter transfer window and Leicester City need to be active before deadline day.

The Foxes have been one of the least active clubs in the 2025 January transfer window, which ends on February 3rd this year.

After a very quiet start, Ruud van Nistelrooy was finally able to make his first signing as manager with Leicester City landing Woyo Coulibaly from Parma in a £3m deal.

A solid addition in an area that has been lacking both quality and depth but there’s still plenty more work to be done.

Speaking ahead of this weekend’s meeting with Everton, Van Nistelrooy provided a Leicester transfer update, seemingly leaving the door open for more arrivals.

With that in mind, we have taken a look at what a dream end to the transfer window may look like at the King Power Stadium.

Leicester City sign a centre-back and winger

One of the club’s biggest problems this season has been the number of goals they are shipping.

49 in 23 is the third-worst record in the top flight and a new centre-back needs to be signed to fix this issue.

Of the many names touted as potential options, Leicester eyeing a move for Strahinja Pavlovic is certainly the most exciting.

Convincing him to swap AC Milan for a relegation-threatened team may prove difficult but even if Pavlovic doesn’t move, it’s clear at least one central defender must be brought in.

Away from defence, Van Nistelrooy wants a new winger following a season-ending injury to Abdul Fatawu.

Patrick Wimmer was linked to Leicester this week and signing someone of his quality would be huge for the Foxes and their survival battle.

Odsonne Edouard leaves Leicester as Premier League loanee arrives

The biggest failure at Leicester during the summer was not signing a quality centre-forward.

Odsonne Edouard arrived on loan from Crystal Palace on deadline day but hasn’t scored a single Premier League goal and is no longer being selected by Van Nistlerooy.

The Eagles are open to selling the striker but Edouard turned down an Atlanta United move in January, with the MLS outfit now closing in on Emmanuel Latte Lath of Middlesbrough instead.

Leicester should be desperate to get rid of the striker before the window slams shut as he is currently taking up one of their two Premier League loan slots – Facundo Buonanotte the other.

A loan from the English top flight would open the door to so many possibilities in the final days of the window but the Foxes need to get Edouard off their books first.
