Leicester City have made a decision on the future of one of their young loan stars.

It’s been a quiet transfer window for Leicester with just one player joining the Foxes this winter.

Ruud van Nistelrooy wants five signings this month but so far it is proving to be difficult, with Woyo Coulibaly joining from Parma last week.

One player was already recalled this month as Tom Cannon looks set to join Sheffield United whilst other stars like Wout Faes could also leave.

Defenders are at the top of the list for the Foxes but one young star may already be available.

Oxford United boss makes decision on Leicester youngster Ben Nelson

Ben Nelson was enjoying a successful loan spell at Championship outfit Oxford United until Nelson returned to Leicester due to injury.

Nelson was spotted with Ricardo Pereira during his recovery but now that he is edging closer to a return, a decision has been made on whether or not he will return to the U’s.

Since coming back to the Foxes, Oxford have changed managers and are now led by former Leicester defender Gary Rowett, who is hoping he can come back to the Kassam Stadium.

“Ben Nelson is making good progress with Leicester, and we’d be hoping to get him back at some point maybe mid-February or the end of February,” he told the Oxford Mail. “We’ll wait and see because it’s down to them when it’s appropriate.”

Leicester City could save millions with Ben Nelson trick

There’s many players highly rated at the Leicester academy and Nelson is certainly one of the higher-rated prospects.

At the age of 20, Nelson was hoping that regular football on loan in the second tier would stand him in good stead to return to challenge for a first team spot at the King Power Stadium next season.

His injury is a small setback but with the rest of the season still to play, there is plenty of time for him to prove himself.

Nelson could in fact save Leicester millions in the long run should he impress and given the ongoing defensive woes, couldn’t do much worse than what is happening right now.
