Leicester City transfer news & rumours: Bombshell update revealed and defender set for Serie A return

It’s almost panic stations with just over a week of the transfer window remaining for Leicester City.

The Foxes want five signings this month but are nowhere near to that target given that only one has come through the door.

Woyo Coulibaly joined last week and could make his debut against Tottenham Hotspur after Ruud van Nistelrooy revealed Coulibaly couldn’t play against Fulham.

There’s no doubt that there’s work going on behind the scenes to bring in new recruits but right now, it seems that outgoings are the only possibility.

So, on that note, here’s the latest transfer news from Leicester City.

Santiago Gimenez set for AC Milan move

It was always a pipedream to imagine someone like Santiago Gimenez joining Leicester but one can dream, right?

Gimenez is scoring goals for fun at Feyenoord and has 13 to his name this campaign and the Mexican was wanted by East Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest too.

Reports in Italy have now revealed that Italian giants AC Milan have identified Gimenez as someone they want to bring to the San Siro.

Any hopes of potential transfer reviving for Gimenez now seems very unlikely.

Caleb Okoli’s agent confirms he is in talks with Serie A club

Caleb Okoli admitted he was shocked by Leicester’s facilities when he joined, but he’ll be even more surprised by his rapid decline.

Okoli has become the fourth-choice defender since Van Nistelrooy’s appointment and the centre-back has been told he can leave.

Talks of a return to Italy for Okoli have surfaced and his agent revealed that he is in talks over a straight loan to Cagliari.

There’s no obligation to buy for the Foxes but it represents another questionable acquisition from the club.

It’s becoming a running theme this window that teams are beating Leicester to signatures and that trend has continued once more.

Julio Enciso is the latest star on the conveyor belt of talent at Brighton & Hove Albion and needs first-team minutes to realise his potential.

Once again though, it’s a Premier League rival who have won the race as Enciso prepares to head to Portman Road on a season-long loan.

Leicester City will only sign players on loan in January transfer window

The Foxes are still facing the fear of PSR despite avoiding charges in recent times and that’s been reflected in their business.

Van Nistelrooy has been given a miniscule budget and despite the pending £10m sale of Tom Cannon, that won’t do much to boost the finances.

To make matters worse, Leicester can only sign players on loan and it hasn’t gone down well at all.

This is going to heavily restrict the way the Foxes operate in the remainder of the window and question marks will be asked of the hierarchy once again.
