Leicester City knew they were going to be linked with several Man United stars during the January transfer window.

Ruud van Nistelrooy is a Man United legend for what he achieved as a player and most recently went unbeaten during a stint as interim manager of the Red Devils.

The 48-year-old was shown the exit door from Old Trafford in November before Ruben Amorim was named the manager and since then, van Nistelrooy has been using his Man United links to eye several players.

Leicester placed Toby Collyer on their radar in December, the highly-rated midfielder coming through the ranks under Amorim.

Harry Amass was also linked to the Foxes, emerging as a left-back option for the Premier League strugglers to keep an eye on.

Amass and Collyer weren’t the only two players linked to Leicester, with an update on their chase of one senior star now being brought to light.

Fabrizio Romano claims Victor Lindelof isn’t interested in Leicester City

Last month, Fabrizio Romano broke the news that Leicester were interested in Man United’s Victor Lindelof, who sees his contract expire in 2025.

No talks were put in place between both parties with the Swedish centre-back assessing his options upon leaving Old Trafford when the time is right.

With van Nistelrooy keen on signing a centre-back, the 30-year-old United star was an ideal option for the Dutchman, especially given his top-flight experience.

However, Romano has since supplied an update on Lindelof, claiming he isn’t interested in joining the relegation-battling Foxes.

“For Leicester, despite the links we had with Victor Lindelof, I’m not sure the player is keen on leaving Man United to go to Leicester in January. But just in general, I think Leicester will be busy in the January,” Romano told GiveMeSport.

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s update on Leicester City transfers

It’s been a frustrating period for the fans. Leicester are facing a points deduction for breaching PSR, they’re second bottom of the Premier League and have signed no players.

Also, Lindelof rejecting the Foxes shows how difficult they will find it to recruit talent this month, especially when Ben Godfrey chose to sign for Ipswich instead of Leicester.

Fans will have to be patient and trust that stars will come through the door ahead of the deadline, with van Nistelrooy highlighting how hard Leicester are working to sign players.

“We’re in the middle of the process,” the Leicester boss said in his press conference.

“It’s clear where we want to strengthen. We’re working on that day and night. I feel a strong responsibility to get the right players in.

“It’s a delicate process. It takes time. It requires a lot of effort and work to bring in the right players.

“We’ve been creating a style of play and players who fit into that are the profiles who can get us to better results.

“Those are the profiles we have been talking about with recruitment and the people responsible for signing these players. It started in December and hopefully we can present something soon.”

Finding the right character as well as player proves difficult for most clubs but with their rivals strengthening, the race is on for Leicester to get their business done.
