It’s been an underwhelming winter transfer window for Ruud van Nistelrooy and Leicester City as only one addition has been made.
Despite Ruud van Nistelrooy wanting four signings, Leicester’s only capture remains right-back Woyo Coulibaly, who arrived from Serie A side Parma.
A flood of activity was expected after the Frenchman moved to the King Power Stadium, though supporters have only felt disappointment.
Van Nistelrooy was even confident of new signings last week, addressing the media before Leicester’s 4-0 defeat to Everton.
However, those hopes were quashed by The Athletic’s Rob Tanner, who claimed Leicester were unlikely to sign any more players on deadline day.
Now, a fresh update has emerged hours before the window shuts, and unfortunately, it’s news no one wanted to hear.

Leicester City expecting no signings on deadline day in blow to Ruud van Nistelrooy
According to TalkSPORT’s Jason Bourne via X, Van Nistelrooy isn’t expecting any more incomings or outgoings at Leicester this evening, piling further misery onto the fans.
Leicester were in talks with Wolves over a swap deal involving Conor Coady and Craig Dawson, though the Foxes rejected that proposal.
Van Nistelrooy was also pushing to sign Loum Tchaouna from his former club PSV, who could have been an ideal right-winger to temporarily replace Abdul Fatawu.
There has however, been no news of that deal progressing, with little else to report immediately in what has been an underwhelming deadline day.
Unfortunately, such a poor month in terms of signing players could see them pay the ultimate price as they stare down the barrel of relegation.
Why Leicester have struggled to make signings
It’s always difficult to do solid business in January, as clubs are reluctant to sell their players midway through the season, and the available ones usually aren’t good enough.
For Leicester, their struggles are amplified by their position in the table, currently inside the relegation zone by two points.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 16 | 23 | 6 | 8 | 9 | 23 | 28 | -5 | 26 | |
| 17 | 24 | 5 | 4 | 15 | 34 | 52 | -18 | 19 | |
| 18 | 24 | 4 | 5 | 15 | 25 | 53 | -28 | 17 | |
| 19 | 24 | 3 | 7 | 14 | 22 | 49 | -27 | 16 |
Further, their financial issues and reluctance to splash the cash on signings means attracting new players is difficult and even the ones they do target have normally preferred another club’s project.
Jon Rudkin has come under fire from Leicester fans following their lack of activity and sadly, the boos and murmurs of discontent will only become more amplified after deadline day.
Leicester could be in for a toxic end to the campaign, potentially resulting in relegation and Van Nistelrooy walking out.
