Leicester City have been linked with a number of players in the last few months as Ruud van Nistelrooy aims to strengthen his squad.
It’s been a pretty slow start to the 2025 winter transfer window for the Foxes but they finally confirmed a deal this week.
Leicester City have signed Woyo Coulibaly from Parma on a four-and-a-half-year contract and he’s now expected to rival James Justin at right-back.
Ruud van Nistelroory should be hoping for more additions this month, however, with the Midlands outfit still in need of strengthening several more positions.
A new centre-back is being looked at, with Leicester looking at a deal for Valentin Gomez now his proposed transfer to Brazil this month has collapsed.
Mads Hermansen may force the Foxes to sign a goalkeeper in January as well with the Dane still sidelined due to injury.
It’s not just at the back where Van Nistelrooy and co. could end up strengthening over the winter, however.
Aston Villa plan for Leicester City target Louie Barry
With Abdul Fatawu out for the season, it makes sense for the relegation-threatened side to be looking at a winger.
Miguel Almiron was linked to Leicester but the Newcastle United forward now looks to be on his way to the MLS.
Meanwhile, reports late in 2024 named the Foxes as one of the sides looking at Aston Villa winger, Louie Barry.
Barry spent the first half of 2024/25 on loan in League One with Stockport County but has been recalled by Villa.
Now, journalist Pete O’Rourke has outlined on X/Twitter what Unai Emery and co. are planning to do with the Leicester-linked ace.
He wrote: “Aston Villa want to tie down in-demand attacker Louie Barry to a new contract before potentially sanctioning a new loan move for the player this month.
“Celtic and a host of Championship clubs are keen on Barry following his impressive form on loan at Stockport.”
Louie Barry stats compared to Leicester City forwards
Barry is a natural left-winger but enjoyed spells as a centre-forward and a number 10 while at Stockport.
Granted, there’s obviously a big jump up in quality from League One to the Premier League but his stats this term are still very impressive.
The 21-year-old is the top scorer in League One and is outperforming every Leicester player on the goal front this season.

He probably wouldn’t start every game for the Foxes if signed, but he’d certainly be a great option off the bench and still has plenty of time to develop further.
