What Ruud van Nistelrooy is planning to do in January after Leicester City lose six games in a row

Leicester City are edging ever closer to relegation following yet another defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace in midweek.

Ruud van Nistelrooy replaced Steve Cooper in the Leicester City dugout in early December.

Things got off to a bright start for the Dutchman when he guided the Foxes to a 3-1 win over West Ham United.

A 2-2 draw with Brighton and Hove Albion followed by their form since that stalemate with the Seagulls has been dire.

Most recently, Leicester lost 2-0 to Crystal Palace – an especially big blow given the Eagles are one of the teams currently in the relegation mix this term.

With results not improving on the pitch and the Midlands outfit now two points from safety having played a game more than 17th place, it seems their only hope of survival is a big January transfer window.

Ruud van Nistelrooy speaks on Leicester City transfers after Crystal Palace loss

Woyo Coulibaly has joined Leicester from Italian side Parma, penning terms on a four-and-half-year contract.

The right-back should hopefully be a decent signing, offering cover in two problem positions – left and right-back.

But Coulibaly alone won’t be enough to turn the club’s dismal form around and stave off relegation.

In turn, fans will be hoping to see more additions made in the coming weeks, and speaking after Palace, Van Nistelrooy has commented on what they plan to do moving forward, stating they have to look at what is possible to get done.

He said: “We have to look what is possible. We’re trying. We’re trying to do everything we can but at this moment there’s no news on new signings.”

Which players are Leicester City being linked with in January

It emerged this week that because of Mads Hermansen’s injury problems, Leicester have looked at a goalkeeper this month.

The Dane was only expected to be out for a few weeks in early January, perhaps indicating his issue is more serious than first thought.

Leicester signing Valentin Gomez in the winter window is a possibility once more as well after the Argentine’s move to Cruzeiro collapsed.

Midfield could also be strengthened this month, with Sean Longstaff linked to the Foxes amid struggles for playing time at Newcastle United.
